Rowing for Children

Rowing for Children is a charity event hosted by Safe Anchor in partnership with Wooden Spoon. To raise money, Stephen Brook, a volunteer for both The Safe Anchor Trust and Wooden Spoon charities is going to row all the way from Huddersfield to London, a journey of 322 miles including 228 locks. Stephen expects to complete the trip in 6 weeks.

You can find the Rowing for Children blog here: http://rowingforchildren.wordpress.com

Stephen and Jennifer are currently en route. See below for updates.

UPDATE 17/08/12:

Stephen & Jennifer set off today from SBM accompanied by Lady Brenda crewed by brave Safe Anchor volunteers with the best wishes from the crowd present at the start ringing in their ears

They were seen heading westwards towards the Pennines which they will cross on Monday 21 Aug. As they emerge into the lost lands of Saddleworth they will need to summon up their reserves of courage, ingenuity & buckets of best Yorkshire phlegm, for this is the land of the Lancastrians - the place where there be dragons.

On the 23rd our intrepid voyagers will, it is hoped, emerge safely into the more gentle lands of Cheshire & all points south

UPDATE:

Stephen and Jennifer have reached Oxford! Check http://rowingforchildren.wordpress.com/ for updates.
